CAIS / SEAL job board

The Canadian Association of Independent Schools 9CAIS) seems to have re-branded itself SEAL, for Standards in Excellence and Learning. A little more reading shows that they joined forces with CESI, so that makes a bit of sense.

In any case, a few jobs for September 2011 are already showing up on their job board. At this point it’s mostly the usual suspects – French and Chemistry – plus the higher-level positions like “head of the middle school”.

Trillium Lakelands District School Board

They have not posted anything for the 2011 school year yet, but alert reader Jeff points out that their Job Postings page has moved. Here’s the new link, and we’ll be keeping an eye on it for September openings!

York Region District School Board

The YRDSB has opened their September 2011 hiring board for Elementary and Secondary teachers. They do not post specific job openings; you apply individually for each of your teachables, and principals (so we’re told) browse the resumes and call candidates they’re interested in.

Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board

The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board has started their application process for September 2011; the deadline is February 25, 2011. There is information on the careers section of their website, but applications must be made through applytoeducation.com.

Rainbow District School Board

The Rainbow District School Board covers Sudbury, Espanola, and Manitoulin Island. They are accepting applications for September 2011 from February 1 to 25, 2011. Their recruitment information says they are looking for candidates with Senior Math, Chemistry, or Physics; French; Ojibwe; Music; Technological Studies; or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.

Their website says that they had 27 teachers participate in their new teacher induction program in August of 2010, so if they are hiring only that many teachers again this year, competition may be pretty fierce.

TDSB

The TDSB’s online hiring system opened up on January 3, 2011. In the secondary panel they don’t indicate any high-needs areas (the word on the street is they are not hiring much at all, even less than last year), but in the elementary panel the website says “High need program areas are: French (Core, Extended and Immersion), Special Education in the areas of Blind, Deaf and Hearing Impaired, Music and Native as a Second Language teachers.”

Ontario School Boards – September 2011 hiring

When doing my B.Ed. at York I maintained a list of GTA school boards and information about hiring, from January to about September of 2007, then again in 2008 and 2010 (I took 2009 off!). Like last year I’m aiming to cover all of the public boards in Ontario, not just the GTA. Feel free to comment with information and updates you’d like me to add.

A Google Map showing the rough centre of each board is here.

Since the posts got too long and it was hard to see what changed, I’ll be posting each school board as its own posting this year. Click on the tag Sep2011 at the top of this post to see them all in one list.
